Malabar Fish Curry

To all the fish lovers,this fish curry is must to try and also its one of my favourite fish curry,the recipe I used here is little elaborate and followed by generations of a wonderful family…I have used cocum/kudam puli  so called kerala puli that is quit different from the usual tamarind.The cocum gives extra- ordinary flavour to the curry…So,dont miss using cocum in this recipe.

Seer Fish,sliced-1 kg
Curry Leaves-Few
Onion Sliced-1 (Big)
Tomatoes sliced-2(Big)
Green Chillies-1-2 slit
Ginger Garlic paste-2 tsp
cocum-2-3 pieces
Water-1 cup

To Dry Roast
Small Onions-8-10 sliced
Curry leaves-handful
Mustard Seeds-1/4 tsp
Methi seeds-1/4 tsp
Coriander seeds-1 tbsp
Fennel seeds-3/4 tsp
Red chilli -5
Coconut, grated-1 cup
Salt to taste

1.Marinate fish with lime and salt.Set Aside

2.Dry roast small onions,onions,curry leaves,mustard,methi,coriander and fennel seeds,who red chilli and grated chilli.Grind to a fine paste

3.In a kadai,pour coconut oil,throw in the curry leaves,add the sliced onions and saute.

4.Then add in the slit green chillies,ginger garlic paste and fry for a couple of minutes.Add the tomatoes and let it cook.

5.Then add in the dry roast ground paste and fry for a couple of minutes.

6. Add the fish pieces along with a cup of water & cocum.Let it cook.
7.Garnish with curry leaves

While serving ,remove the cocum pieces and adding too much of cocum will give burnt flavour to the dish….
